Founder and Tour Leader
With ten years of experience in birdwatching tourism, Ángel Fong is an avitourism and sustainable tourism specialist, founder and Lead Guide of Go Bird Honduras, and founder of the platform Pajareando en Honduras. His approach connects birdwatching, biodiversity conservation, and community participation to create authentic travel experiences that contribute to local development.
His work spans bird monitoring, species inventory surveys in key conservation areas, and assessments of birdwatching tourism potential across multiple regions of Honduras. He has also contributed to the design of plans and strategies aimed at strengthening birding destinations, supporting local communities, and promoting sustainable tourism development.
Ángel served as President of the Honduran Ornithology Association (ASHO) from 2018 to 2020 now know as Aves Honduras, where he established the organization’s first Birdwatching Tourism Committee, helping to strengthen Honduras’ position as an international birding destination.
He is also a founding member of RELATUR (Red Latinoamericana de Turismo Rural / Latin American Rural Tourism Network) and the founder of the Global Bird Guides Alliance (GBGA). These initiatives reflect his commitment to collaboration, rural tourism, and the role of specialized guides in connecting travellers with nature and local communities.
